Embracing the shadow self requires forgiveness and acceptance. The shadow is a part or parts of ourselves that we do not wish to own, for example, a jealous or judgmental part. The shadow is the part of ourselves that we despise the most in others. Owning these shadow parts and offering them compassion is of utmost importance and is key to the development of our Authentic self.
To truly embrace our shadow means to dare to look at elements of ourselves which we might have relegated to the back corner of our consciousness from the age of a young child. When we give ourselves the permission to acknowledge and accept our so called weaknesses we discover that those qualities may prove to be important, hidden strengths.
Through participating in guided exercises with horses we are able to access layers of our shadow in a profound and healing manner. Tara has led several women's groups through the process of shadow work. She finds great satisfaction in helping others dive into the inner realms of what will truly liberate us to own and embrace our own light. It is only through embracing our darkness that we can claim our full beauty and magnificence..
